Barberry Woods Drainage Improvement Project

Project Overview

The Barberry Woods Drainage project is more than the City's attempt to address flooding at a single site. The best solution will not only alleviate local flooding, but also model the paradigm shift that the City is attempting to undergo to better confront flooding and climate change impacts. This means examining alternative approaches to mitigate flooding and developing multi-layer benefits for the City and the community in the project area. An innovative design approach will respond to the natural context of the project site and the priorities of the surrounding community. This project will seek to apply the principles of the Dutch Dialogues that can set the standard for sustainable ecological design woven with community benefits of protection and connectivity.
